Press Release: Spring Break 2011

PRESS RELEASE

March 18, 2011

Media Contact: Casey Kroger (513) 455-7196 office, (513) 608-5777 cell, ckroger@cincymuseum.org

Cincinnati Museum Center offers great Spring Break activities without the drive
Make Cleopatra, Tornado Alley and three museums highlights of your stay-cation

CINCINNATI –What will you discover over Spring Break? Adventure, thrills and fun wait for you at Cincinnati Museum Center. Ancient treasures and never-before-seen artifacts from Egypt tell Cleopatra’s story in Cleopatra: The Exhibition. Hold on to your seat - you could find yourself in the middle of a tornado in Tornado Alley, and there’s plenty to explore in the Museum of Natural History & Science, Duke Energy Children’s Museum and Cincinnati History Museum.

It’s the perfect excuse to avoid the high gas prices and stay close this year. With so many things to do, it may take you longer than a week!

Cleopatra: The Exhibition
You can meet the queen right here in Cincinnati, and you don’t have to go to Egypt to immerse yourself in the rich ancient culture. Just come to Cincinnati Museum Center and journey back 2,000 years ago to Cleopatra’s world. More then 150 statues, jewelry, coins and never-before-seen artifacts tell the story of this elusive queen who has been lost to sand and sea. Get an inside view of the present-day search for Cleopatra through two ongoing expeditions by modern day explorers Dr. Zahi Hawass and Franck Goddio. Get your preferred day and entry time by ordering your tickets early. Call (513) 287-7001 for tickets.

Tornado Alley at the OMNIMAX Theater
Have you wondered what it’s like to witness the formation of a tornado from the very heart of it? Now you can! Join Sean Casey, star of the Discovery Channel’s Storm Chasers series, on a heart-pounding mission to experience a tornado’s destructive power. Discover the relentless strength of nature’s elemental forces as Casey and his team gathers the most comprehensive extreme weather data ever collected.

Our Museums
Duke Energy Children’s Museum is perfect for your 6 month old. Little Sprouts Farm is especially designed for ages preschool and younger with daily programming that make fun and learning go hand in hand. And The Woods and Water Works are great for burning off your toddler’s never-ending energy.

Your inquisitive child will have a blast in the Museum of Natural History & Science. They’ll love to visit Nature’s Trading Post, catch a Bat Flight demonstration and learn how science helped us find out what’s wrapped up with our real mummy, Umi.

Cincinnati History Museum delights history buffs, young and old. Solve mysteries with the House Detective Agency and step back in time to the Public Landing and talk with a costumed interpreter.

Are you a Member?
Museum Center Members receive great benefits, and Spring Break is the best time to take advantage of them. Free admission to Duke Energy Children’s Museum, Cincinnati History Museum and the Museum of Natural History & Science and free parking are just the beginning. Discounts on Omnimax films (like Tornado Alley!) and special exhibits including Cleopatra are great too, but did you know that your Museum Center membership can get you in free to other museums? Ask about the reciprocal program included with your membership. More than 250 organizations on the list are free or discounted when you show your Cincinnati Museum Center membership.

For more information on awesome Spring Break activities, Tornado Alley, Cleopatra, and how you can become a Member, visit www.cincymuseum.org.
