Final Celebration of our Passport to the World Series
Celebrate Asian culture with our final culture fest of the season

CINCINNATI- Have you joined us in celebrating different cultures at Cincinnati Museum Center? Our Passport to the World Series is getting ready to celebrate its LAST culture fest of the season with Asian Culture Fest on Saturday, April 16 and Sunday, April 17 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Join us as we celebrate the beauty and richness of Asian culture and pay tribute to those affected by the natural disasters in Japan. Visit the booths of China , India, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, and Vietnam for fun activities and games. Drink traditional Taiwanese tea with tea expert, professor Jade Lin. Get festive henna hand and face painting like people in India. Learn about traditional crafts and make your own to take home like origami, Chinese sun hats & Japanese silk fans.

Enjoy beautiful performances including the Korean Fan Dance by the Cincinnati Korean-American school; classical Indian dance from the NrityaArpana School of Performing Arts; the Taiwan Lion Dance & puppet show by the Taiwanese Association of Cincinnati; see brilliant Aikido and Taiko demonstrations and much more!

The Japan America Society will be accepting donations on behalf of the Red Cross for the victims in Japan. They will also be having a bake sale at their booth with all proceeds going to the Japan Relief Fund.

The Japan American Citizens League presents a Japanese Film Festival with movies such as Ugetsu, Rashomon, Letters from Iwo Jima, Seven Samurai and Kwaidan. The Cincinnati-Dayton Taiko group will also do a special demonstration and talk about the cultural significance of drumming. The “Tribute to Japan” mini exhibit will be in the Rotunda with artifacts such as a male and female kimono, the original “flip-flop”, samurai dolls, swords and more. Also, on Sunday, see a musical tribute to Japan from Sakura Ladies Chorus and Friends in the auditorium.

Coming soon will be our “Traditional Chinese Painting & Calligraphy” exhibit in the Ruthven gallery, opening in May.
